The Irony of Beauty

("Advent sunrise." This is part of a series on Flickr.)

Is it perhaps ironic that, in the darkest time of year, we experience the most spectacular sunrise?

(In the darkest place of our lives? In the darkest moment of the world?)

I hope you celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in a way that acknowledges the sometimes unexpected beauty of God's work.

I saw one from the window at work last night that stopped me in my tracks for several minutes. It was amazing. Ironic that the shortest days of the year can catch our attention as some of the most beautiful.

I'm trying to figure out how to get an avi file I created through Picasa onto our blog site. It's taken me on and off all day and I've yet to get it over to the site. So it was nice when I plugged into your site to see this beautiful photograph ... it helped to calm my frustration with moving (or not rather) our video file. Thanks for the post!
