Saturday Quiz, Late: What Kind Of Catholic Am I?

...A question my students have asked in the privacy of their rooms, no doubt.

(I try to take Saturdays to do a fun quiz or meme. Here's the latest quiz, thanks to Korrektiv). I have put in my reactions in pretty pink.

You scored as New Catholic. (What the heck is that?) The years following the Second Vatican Council was (were?--two points off) a time of collapse of the Catholic faith and its traditions. Well, look, I actually think there were bright spots, but OK.... But you are a young person (...who is about to turn 40!) who has rediscovered this lost faith, probably due to the evangelization of Pope John Paul II. (I admired JP II, but I wouldn't tag him for my spiritual rejuvenation. I dunno, maybe God had something to do with it?) You are enthusiastic, refreshing, and somewhat traditional, and you may be considering a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. (Heh. I'm married. Of course, that IS a religious vow.) You reject relativism and the decline in society that you see among your peers. (True.) You are seen as being good for the Church. (Glad to hear that! Tell my students, will ya?)

A possible problem is that you may have a too narrow a view of orthodoxy, and anyway, you are still a youth and not yet mature in your faith. (Well, it's nice to have room to grow, I guess.) - Rome of the West

Oh, thank God:
You scored as Traditional Catholic.

You look at the great piety and holiness of the Church before the Second Vatican Council and the decay of belief and practice since then, and see that much of the decline is due to failed reforms based on the "Spirit of the Council". You regret the loss of vast numbers of Religious and Ordained clergy and the widely diverging celebrations of the Mass of Pope Paul VI, which often don't even seem to be Catholic anymore. You are helping to rebuild this past culture in one of the many new Traditional Latin Mass communities or attend Eastern Catholic Divine Liturgy. You seek refuge from the world of pornography, recreational drugs, violence, and materialism. You are an articulate, confident, committed, and intelligent Catholic. But do you support legitimate reform of the Church, and are you willing to submit to the directives of the Second Vatican Council? Will you cooperate responsibly with others who are not part of the Traditional community?

(Answers: Yes, already do, yes.)

Cripe, I'm the only other one who took this quiz?

Perhaps we'd better get out more often..

Well when the quiz starts with the question of "what kind of AMERICAN Catholic", one has to wonder about the soundness of the questions. I was "new Catholic" also. Same quote as IC got. Except for the young part, and I am only 34. :)

And I haven't been a NEW Catholic since I was baptized some 34 years ago.

Oh come, now.. we know these online quizzes devised and rated by folks we've never met nor prayed with, who may be Ultramontanists or Luddites or UberLibs or, heck, Democrats, are completely accurate, right? I fear we'd be lost without these, and polls of Pres. popularity, and horoscopes, and dating tips..

I came out a NeoCon. I tend not to put much stock in these scale of agreement quizzes, mainly because my brother-in-law sent us a Star Trek one once and I found that if you checked "strong agreement" to everything (including, "I have worn a skirt") you got Capt. Kirk. Kirk in a skirt? Come on!

Hmmm, based on the responses here, y'all really don't want to know how I scored on this bogus test. But I bet you could take a pretty good guess....
