If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you. -- Oscar Wilde
Why do I get the feeling that you're baiting me, trying to elicit yet another way too long and overly impassioned plea about the ontological status of puppies no less. Help!
There is at least 1 rock in Heaven, Peter. And Presbyterians don't have "Domini Canes" (Dominicans).
Interesting how it's the Catholic Church is defending the case of dogs in Heaven. All I know is that I am not alone when I state that if my dogs are not in Heaven I am not sure I want to go. And how can anyone prove that a dog does NOT have a soul?
Ever had a dog (or cat)? They possess the entire range of emotions that humans do (joy, fear, play, love, jealousy, embarrassment, etc). That's not an accident - they are not "soulless." They are there - in heaven - waiting for you - just like your grandparents, parents, spouse, children, and friends are. No matter what the "politically" or "doctrine" correct answer is you'll get "down here." Hey, the church had to do something - how could humanity survive if we didn't try to isolate animals somehow - saying they didn't have souls - so we could "justify" using them for food (I'm talking ancient history here - not saying anyone is eating their dogs or cats)? I choose to believe that God loves all his creations - animals included - otherwise, he wouldn't be God (at least not the one I have been taught and believe exists). I (for one-not speaking for anyone else) cannot believe that my God would not reunite me with all creatures that both he and I loved when I am in the presence of his all encompassing and eternal LOVE. Just one believer's thoughts.......
