Only in Brooklyn: SoulWow!

At first I liked it.  Then I felt guilty and had second thoughts.

HT to The Deacon's Bench.  And go to reconciliation before Easter!

This is a legit campaign! At first I thought it was just a humor video. I wonder if it will work? I wonder if it should work?

Personally, I think it's brilliant. It uses humor and clear seriousness.

I like it as well, but...did they do this before or after the shamwow guy got in trouble for assault or whatever the charges are?

Almost Baptized feel?

This is where I lose out being a TV luddite--I've never heard of ShamWow. A shampoo?

Anyway, I'd be interested to see if it has a "real life effect" (more people showing that day for confessions), and it is cleverly done.

I'm speechless. I wish I could say something, but this was not what I expected. Not saying it is right or wrong, but my brain is still to process it.

Maybe this is why I don't like Charismatic Renewel movement?

Vicky--I don't see how the two connect, myself....

I think it's "clever" for the under 25's but I'm almost 40, a convert to the Faith (12 years now, but only faithful the past seven) so . . . I find it annoying. I wish the Church wouldn't fall for the gimmicky. Just my two cents.

Coincidentally, I was reading Peter Kreeft's Back to Virtue and he says "few things are so quickly out of date as the up-to-date."

That's a rough quote.

Ironcially, Kreeft begins the book with a post-cold war introduction. How 1990's can we get? Still a great read.

Apparently, IT WORKED! We heard over 500 confessions at my parish in the span of 8 hours that day.

Loved it! I know a priest who has made it his mission to respond against the evangelization of other religions by going door to door every Thursday. He began this ministry about 10 years ago and the response has been amazing! He asked a few of the parishioners to join him for an hour or two (they pray / distribute rosaries) while he confesses. I've been blessed to know of people who have come back to the Catholic Church after being gone 10/20/and even 30 years just by having this priest knock at their door.

Fr. Patrick and Adonela,

You two just made my day.

I think it's cute, though I wish he'd have said "that JUST-baptized feeling", not "that ALMOST-baptized feeling."
Semantics.

At any rate, wonderful to read of the success, Father! THANK YOU ALL for staying in the confessional so long.
