Found (actually, re-found) a new blog: Saint Kitsch--trying to expose all that shouldn't be in the world of art within the Christian Church.
The owner, Frank, offers the worst sacred Heart of Jesus picture EVER, and I must say I believe he is coorect:
Auuugggghhhhhh!

Trust me, there ARE worse such pictures out there. Just not very many.
I think my eyes actually started watering when that picture popped up in my feedreader. Wow.
'The goggles do nothing!'
wow..I just saw this....it reminded of that movie Godspell. Bringing Christianity to those under the influence?
Thanks :D :D :D
Saw you were following today and I think my heart grew three sizes today.
Mariandev--I like Godspell!
Frank--fine, just don't post a painting of it!
Godspell was nothing like this!
Also, St. Kitsch, next December when my supermarket comes out with the faux alabaster Madonna and Child faux candle lights, I'll be looking you up!
I got curious and tracked down the artist. The bad news is he seems to have quite a few more where this came from. The worse news is, he's an Egyptian Christian. Some compassion is in order, folks.
Godspell was a musical/film of it's time...you had to have been there; that's pretty normal 60's stuff, however,"Day by Day" is still one of the best contemporary tunes out there about seeking Jesus. Now this thing you all are talking about is beyond Godspell and beyond kitsch, but if it brings a soul to seek Jesus, who are we to question it? (ps. I don't like this anymore than I like rock and roll multi media worship services-LOL)
