(Well, this is embarrassing.) I'm going to Rome after all! UPDATE

Wow.

Yes, I appear to be able to go to the Vatican's Blognic, because my university jumped in and offered help to get there, stay there, and cover classes. (Basically an administrator sat me down and talked sense into me.)

So all the reasons why this wouldn't work went away...

So, I guess I go! Wow!

(Oh, and the Vatican is still letting me attend. I checked.)

Some of you kindly donated money to help with the expedited passport fees. I will thank each of you when I have a spare few moments. But, believe me, I thank you.

Back to Holy Week....

Congrats! Good luck and let us know if you need any assistance. Also, make sure to get pics of the Crescat being inappropriate around Swiss Guards.

This is embarrassing?!? Are you nutz? It's fabulous news and I'm so so happy for you. You have a unique voice within the (traditional) Catholic blogosphere and I'm glad you've been included. Safe travels and God speed.

So happy to hear this! I couldn't believe your university would pass up the chance to brag that one of their professors was selected to go. Have a great time!

Make sure you go see the little church of St Clement- not too far from the Colosseum. It is a 12th small 12th century church that has been excavated under- and you walk down to the 1st century. Not on main tourist trail- very moving. A young Roman guy told me about the place.

This makes my day just as learning the Crescat got finance to attend also.

Oh good, I was so disappointed when you said you would not be able to swing it and I said a little prayer.

Congratulations! The conference will certainly be the better for your attendance. Will you have to call on the Communion of Saints for advice on proper Vatican conference protocol?
