Rejected lines from the new book

Yeah, I'm writing an academic book. It's great, but sometimes being an academic is no fun. They don't allow lines like this, currently in my rough draft:

"God is not a monist, omniscient Supreme Being who created the world, took a walk, came back for the crucifixion, and is now playing the back nine until the Final Judgment."

Sigh.

Given I'll be writing all year, rejected lines may become a series....

Want to work with me on an Ironic Catechism for RCIA programs (Orthodox but real)? Just a thought... (and my verification word is "obidenti". Oy Vey!)

Thanks for yet another reminder of why I left academia! That's a brilliant line on so many many levels. Too bad it won't stay in there. Hope you'll take everything that ends up on the slashing room floor and use it for Good. Don't know how you survive...other than that faith n' God thing you've got going.

Reminds me of a line in my thesis that slipped by my reader committee: "In the ancient world, being denied burial was a very grave insult."
